But if they are granite (or another smooth stone) like ours were, I highly suggest you rent an angle grinder and a diamond blade and score the counters before tackling this DIY concrete countertop project. So if that is what you are looking for, you may want to skip this project and go with a more traditional medium for your counters! But be forewarned – you will NEVER get these babies perfectly smooth. They have a natural patina to them, and it really adds movement and character to the space. I personally just love the rustic character these DIY concrete countertops add to our (now) very white and bright kitchen.
